Egypt

Pyramids, Valley of the Kings, Temple of Karnak, Nile ....and more!

Egypt is located in northern Africa, bordering the Mediterranean Sea, between Libya and the Gaza Strip and the Red Sea north of Sudan.

It is a fascinating and magnificent country, full of legends, that of Isis and Horus, of colours and perfume of the mysterious East, evocative dreams in a mystical country... Egypt is the "living" Museum of the World.

Whilst Egypt is best known for the pyramids, they are in fact just one portion of an enormous wealth of monuments and artefacts that are spread all over the country.  Egypt's architectural heritage has had many contributors to Egyptian Pharaoh's, the Greeks, the Romans, the Christians and the Arabs.

The capital Cairo stretches out along both banks of the Nile. The governorship of Giza on the west bank and that of Cairo proper on the east bank merge to form the same vast city. With an insatiable appetite for space, the largest city on the African continent makes daily inroads into desert sands and farmlands. This is happening at such a rate that no one knows for certain whether Cairo's population has reached ten, fifteen or perhaps even twenty million.

Cairo has vibrant souks (markets), ancient buildings and museums, combined with the modern world, making it a wonderful and diverse city.  Other places to visit include Luxor which has some the most amazing monuments in the world and Aswan with imposing temples.  The Nile runs along the length of Egypt and a cruise is one of the best ways to explore the country.
