Oman

" Ahlan wa salan! Welcome! "

The Sultanate of Oman is situated on the eastern part of the Arabian Peninsula bordering the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Yemen.

Oman could well be called a microcosm of almost every geographical and topographical feature found around the world starting with stark rocky mountains in the north of the country, sweeps its way through vistas of golden sands, wadis and fertile oasis. Its 1700 kms of coastline provides Oman with some of the most beautiful beaches to be found anywhere in the world.

The climate of Oman is diverse. It enjoys an extremely pleasant winter beginning October and lasting until the end of April. The months of May and September are warm, with June, July and August enduring hot weather.

Oman occupies a total area of 3,000,000 sq.km

The first ancient villages found in Oman date from the end of the Fourth Millennium BC - 6000 years ago! Just as almost the only record of Stone Age man is his stone implements, so the first indications of life in Oman is also seen in the pottery that has been excavated, proving that Oman enjoyed widespread contacts with people from other lands and was also a melting pot for cultures in those remote times.

Today, from the time of the accession of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said in 1970, the Sultanate of Oman has been transformed over the last 25 years from an underdeveloped country into a modern state with state of the art hospitals, University, sporting complexes, top line infrastructure in roads and telecommunications, plus agricultural and industrial modernisation.
