The Sultanate of Oman is situated on the eastern part of the Arabian Peninsula bordering the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Yemen. The Forts of Oman
The Sultanate abounds in forts, strongholds, and watch towers. Nizwa, the capital of the interior is the birthplace of Islam in the Sultanate and boasts the famous Round Tower Fort. It's Souq is renowned for its Friday cattle and camel auction, intricately hand-carved "Khanjars" and jewellery. Jabrin Fort built in the 17th century became the seat of Omani learning. It's richly painted ceilings and fine woodcarvings are exquisite!
